Tip 1
If you are married, you and your spouse should each fill out your own Ballpark E$timate
worksheet taking your marital status into account when entering your Social Security
benefit in Step 2.
Tip 2
The non-interactive ballpark provides estimated Social Security benefits based on
several income ranges. For a more personalized figure, use the appropriate benefit figure
from "Your Social Security Statement." All Americans over the age of 24 not
currently receiving Social Security Benefits receive a personalized statement annually
three months before their birthday. If you haven't received your statement, contact the
Social Security Administration at 1-800-772-1213 or online at http://www.ssa.gov/.
Tip 3
If you don't know how much you will receive annually from your traditional employer
pension or defined benefit plan, contact the benefits or human resources professional in
your office.
Tip 4
If you anticipate receiving income from an annuity in retirement, enter the amount you
expect to receive annually in "Other" on line 2 of the non-interactive version
or line 14 of the interactive version.
